leAnn Rimes American country singer, songwriter, actress, and author

LeAnn Rimes born August 28, 1982 is an American country singer, songwriter, actress, and author. She is known for her rich vocals and her rise to fame at the age of 13—becoming the youngest country music star since Tanya Tucker in 1972.
Rimes made her breakthrough into country music in 1996. Her debut album, Blue, reached Number 1 on the Top Country Albums chart and was certified "multi-platinum" in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album's lead single of the same name (originally intended to be recorded by Patsy Cline in the early 1960s) became a Top 10 hit. With immediate success, Rimes attained widespread national acclaim for her similarities to Cline's vocal style. When Rimes released her sophomore studio effort in 1997, You Light up My Life: Inspirational Songs, Rimes went more towards country pop material, which would set the trend for a string of albums that would be released into the next decade.
Since her debut, Rimes has won many major industry awards, which include two Grammys, three ACMs, one CMA, twelve Billboard Music Awards, and one American Music award. In addition, Rimes has also released ten studio albums and four compilation albums through her record label of 13 years, Asylum-Curb, and placed over 40 singles on American and international charts since 1996. She has sold over 37 million records worldwide, with 20.3 million album sales in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Early life
Born Margaret LeAnn Rimes (in Pearl, Mississippi), she is the only child of Belinda Butler Rimes and Wilbur Rimes. The family relocated to Garland, Texas when she was six years old. She was singing by the age of two, was enrolled into vocal and dance training, and by the age of five was performing at local talent shows. One of her best friends, Jordan Villarreal, supported her when she sang. Rimes initially began her career in musical theatre, performing in a Dallas, Texas production of A Christmas Carol, and almost landed the lead part in the Broadway production of Annie. However, after appearing on the network television competition show, Star Search, Rimes decided to pursue a career in country music. Following her national television appearance, Rimes made a number of appearances on Johnnie High's Country Music Revue in Arlington, Texas, which garnered the attention of national talent scouts.
By the age of nine, LeAnn was already an experienced singer. She toured nationally with her father and also regularly performed a cappella renditions of "The Star Spangled Banner" at the opening ceremonies of the Dallas Cowboys football games. In order to bring his daughter more national attention, he began recording her under the independent label Nor Va Jak when she turned eleven. She released three albums under the label between 1992 and 1996.
Rimes was discovered by Dallas disc jockey and record promoter, Bill Mack. Mack was impressed by Rimes' vocal ability, and over the following three years, he also made various attempts to bring Rimes to a mainstream level. The center of Mack's plan to bring her success was his self-penned composition, "Blue," which he had written in the early 1960s. Mack claimed that the song was intended to be recorded and made a hit record by Patsy Cline, but she had been killed in a plane crash before ever recording the composition. By 1995, Mack was able to gain Rimes a contract with Curb Records, after record executives heard Rimes sing "Blue."

Lady Gaga-gaga Gets Into The Christmas Spirit

Native New Yorker Lady Gaga is teaming up with luxury department store Barneys for a Christmas campaign and window display called "Gaga's Workshop." Barneys plans to dedicate an entire floor of its flagship Madison Avenue store to the singer's interpretation of Santa's Workshop, as well as dedicating its 2011 holiday window display to the Gaga theme. Small limited edition gift items created by Gaga and Nicola Formichetti will also be available for sale, according to a Reuters report. The store says it will donate 25 percent of all the items featured in Gaga's Workshop to a charity of the singer's choice.

Barneys New York chief executive Mark Lee said in a statement that the campaign would be the largest and most encompassing holiday theme ever mounted by the upscale retailer. "As a New York city landmark, we wanted to celebrate Lady Gaga as a fellow New Yorker and amazing talent," Lee said in a statement.

Meanwhile, as previously reported, Gaga will hit the airwaves of MTV on Thursday, August 18 at 7:49 p.m. EST to introduce her new video for the song "Yoü and I," followed by a live Q&A session with MTV News' Sway Calloway on MTV.com. Fans can submit questions for the interview through MTV.com or via Twitter. In addition, mtvU, MTV Hits and Tr3s will premiere "Yoü and I" on the same night at 8 p.m. Born This Way musical director Fernando Garibay recently spoke to MTV News about how the song came together, and why Gaga chose producer Mutt Lange for this particular track.

"She recorded a vocal backstage [on tour], because there was no time to fly anybody out anymore," Garibay recalled. "It was the last round. She recorded it backstage, the vocal and the piano, and gave it to Mutt Lange. Her and Mutt Lange traded notes, and I just made sure that everything stayed intact." He added that even though Gaga traditionally has worked with up-and-coming producers, she wanted a veteran to produce this deeply personal track. "Mutt Lange's a legend since the '80s," Garibay said. "Here you have such a legend and you have Gaga, [and] Gaga records the vocal herself and then gives it to Mutt and he does his stuff to the track, to the song, but kept it in her vision. It's pretty spectacular."

Career
Sanderson joined Coronation Street in 1999 and left in Autumn 2005, when her character left Weatherfield to become a stylist for Status Quo. Prior to this, she had appeared in children's drama Children's Ward and in 2004, the hit fitness DVD Coronation Street - Funk fit.
Since leaving Coronation Street she has appeared in episodes of the BBC television series' Holby City and New Street Law alongside fellow Coronation Street alumni Chris Gascoyne and Chris Bisson. British newspaper The Daily Express stated that she was in the running[citation needed] to replace Billie Piper as the Doctor's companion in Doctor Who, however Freema Agyeman was chosen for the role. In 2006, Sanderson appeared in a touring production of The Vagina Monologues with Jerry Hall amongst others and an episode of Kay Mellor's Strictly Confidential.
A vocalist, Sanderson loves to show this side of herself off. She jumps at the chance to sing at every opportunity; she is a self-confessed karaoke enthusiast. She has made several television appearances singing, most notably on ITV's Madonna Mania, Discomania, Abba Mania 2 and Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes, where her impression of LeAnn Rimes, singing the smash hit theme from the film Coyote Ugly, 'Can't Fight The Moonlight' earned her the winner's spot. She has also appeared on The X Factor: Battle Of The Stars in the solo 16-24 category, mentored by Sharon Osbourne where she was eliminated fifth. At the time, though, Sanderson was suffering from tonsillitis and was straining her voice to sing.
She has appeared on the cover of Loaded magazine and in August 2005, the cover of Maxim magazine and in June 2006 the cover of FHM as the headlining feature of the issue, combining a photo shoot and exclusive interview with one of the magazine's journalists.
For 2006 and 2007, she was signed up by hip sports fashion footwear brand KangaROOS to head up their high-profile new print advertising campaign. She will shortly be seen in the new independent film Clubbed and in episodes of Cold Blood for ITV and The Afternoon play for BBC One.
In June 2007, it was reported that Sanderson would make a brief return to Coronation Street in Autumn 2007, when her character, Candice Stowe, turns up during the build up to another characters wedding. However these reports were later dismissed by Sanderson during an appearance on ITV's Loose Women due to "scheduling problems".
She appeared in the "Tuareg Productions" play Living under one roof at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham from 26–30 June 2007.[dead link]
She appeared in the second series of All Star Family Fortunes which aired on 25 December 2007.

She played the part of Audrey in the horror film Boogeyman 3 released in 2009.[6] And she plays the character Gee Gee, a dance teacher, in the 2008 film Clubbed, an underworld drama set in the early 1980s.
She is currently starring in the 2010 UK tour of The Vagina Monologues.
